1. EDUCATED TO AT LEAST DIPLOMA LEVEL
If you are thinking of becoming an airline ticketing agent and you are not a graduate of at least diploma, then forget it. I even advice you get a degree in order to have advantage over others because every airline operator needs someone with vast knowledge.
2. GET CERTIFICATIONS
There are aviation schools in Nigeria you can get training and certifications from, if you are an IATA certified ticketing officer you have a massive advantage over someone who is not.
As an aspiring airline ticketing agent your ability to communicate orally and verbally should be next to none. Also, it is necessary to know how to speak some international languages like french and german because you would have to relate with foreign clients.
4. GOOD CUSTOMER SERVICE
In business customer is "everything", as a ticketing agent you must be polite, friendly and homely when it comes to dealing with your customers. When you possess good customer relationship skills customers will come calling on their own.
5. TICKET SALES AND SCANNING
As a ticketing agent you are required to engage in ticket sales in or outside the airport. Besides selling, you may also be required to scan tickets at the boarding gates and issues boarding pass to travelers.

6. TICKET RESERVATIONS
As a ticketing agent, travelers would call you in order to book, cancel or reschedule their flights. This process might be through a phone call, online or in-person. Their job is usually to confirm it, call up customers to verify and make sure there is no mix up in the matter.
As a ticket agent you must be friendly, because whenever anything goes wrong, you are always the first to receive the customers sledge hammer.
