HOW TO BECOME A REGISTERED RECHARGE CARD DISTRIBUTOR

Most mobile phone users today hardly go a day without recharging their phones. Ever since GSM phones broke into the Nigerian telecoms market it has always been on the upward trend. I doubt you would see a Nigerian of 15 years and above today without a phone.

But why am I preaching this sermon? There is something that powers your mobile phone either to browse or make phone calls, it is recharge card! The demand for recharge card today has skyrocketed because almost everyone with a Smartphone wants to subscribe to a data plan and make phone calls.

The truth is, without recharge card your mobile phone is useless! Be it an i-phone, Samsung or Nokia, etc. Nigeria will always be a huge market for recharge card vendors due to our large population. Do you also want me to remind you that Nigerians are the most active internet users in Africa? Yes! we are.

Each telecom company boasts of billions of dollars in profit. Even when Etisalat (now 9mobile) had issues they still announced a $16B financials from subscriptions. No wonder Nigeria is now the telecom giant in Africa after overtaking South Africa.

The key players in Nigeria telecoms industry, MTN, 9MOBILE, AIRTEL GLOBACOM offer voice calling and internet service, to enjoy the services of any of these service providers you just need their SIM card.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
After carrying out your feasibility study, you need to decide whether you want to be an MTN distributor or you want to distribute recharge cards from all network service providers. But I advice you become a multi-distributor because it is more rewarding financially.

Before you can become a distributor you need to contact the network service provider to establish a business relationship. Though there is a common factor applicable to all operator, it is that there has to be an agreement or contract struck between the two parties (prospective distributor and the telecom operators) before the commencement of business.
MTN Nigeria calls this contract Trade Partnership agreement, GLOBACOM calls it business associates, 9mobile and Airtel call thier distributors channel partners.

Having conducted feasibility study and understand the scope to which you want your business to go, go to the website of the network providers or visit their headoffice. Do note you many need up to 5 million naira to start this business. Ensure you adhere strictly to your business to avoid mismanaging your business.
